Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, creators of Wicked, were motivated by the 1995 Gregory Maguire story "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West".

This show has been hailed for its expansion of the story of Oz, giving The Wizard of Oz fans around the globe a peek into Glinda and Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch of the West). Wicked, even with its main characters beginning as enemies, it is a profound story about acceptance and friendship. With an incredible costume creation and impressive special effects, WICKED transports its audience straight to the wonderful land of Oz!

The musical first premiered in 2003, making it 21 years old. Since its inception, Wicked has surpassed $1 BILLION in revenue on Broadway. Only The Lion King & The Phantom of the Opera have accomplished this incredible achievement. WICKED has also dominated theatres outside of Broadway, with records in Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Miami, and London.
