A tale of two falling in unlikely love, Moulin Rouge! The Musical shares with us a tragic yet swoonworthy story in the equally passionate locale of Paris, France. In the districts of Montmartre, Christian, a motivated writer who moves in Montmartre with an aim to succeed in writing, stumbles upon the most beautiful woman he has seen and club entertainer, Satine, in the nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then struggle to keep their love alive against all odds, as another jealous man sets his sights on Satine as his muse.

Paying tribute to Baz Luhrmann's original that was produced more than a decade after the late motion picture, this Broadway play's initial struggle was to present an unfamiliar setting to a new generation. The best move of the crew, just like the previous motion picture, was to tell the 2019 stage adaptation with unexpectedly new renditions of this generation's pop arrangements. The obvious solution was to supersize the score and truly make it into a “jukebox musical with a difference”, as the creators call it. The result, as seen on the live stage, was a melting pot of unsurpassed medleys, mash-ups, and renditions. Though the show retains several of the 2001 picture's chart-topping numbers including Lady Marmalade, the Broadway show now performs current songs from the current times including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic among so many other pop songs.
