A secret affair in the middle of a bustling city, Moulin Rouge! The Musical recounts to us a classical tale of romance in the equally intimate city of Paris, France. In the districts of Montmartre, Christian, a motivated composer who arrives in Paris, France with nothing but hope in his heart, encounters the most beautiful woman he has seen and club entertainer, Satine, in the nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then choose to keep their developing love a secret, as another affluent patron sets his target on Satine as his prize.

Being a stage adaptation that was created more than a decade after the original movie, Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s first hurdle was to present an unfamiliar setting to a new generation. The best move of the crew, just like the original film, was to present the secret romantic affair with unexpectedly new renditions of modern popular arrangements. The obvious solution was to add tremendously to the score and truly make the show into a “a creative peek into the 1900s”, as the creators refer to it. The product, as viewed on the actual stage, was a great combination of epic medleys, mash-ups, and renditions. Though the musical keeps many of the original film's beloved tracks including Lady Marmalade, Moulin Rouge now performs current songs from more recent years including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic performed in unique arrangements.
