After tours in the world’s most popular venues as well as Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be performing for a limited season this spring in San Diego Civic Theatre of San Diego, an especially renowned theatre acclaimed for its top amenities fit to present world-class productions and musicals.
The Musical honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, produced and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, basing it off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical life of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ style, remaining faithful to the events behind Hamilton's life but with artistic flair and musical scoring that makes this production highly entertaining. The Musical really began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was instantly met with excellent reviews from its opening night. Among a variety of press articles and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the Musical’s performance with its excellent cast including the likes of the musical's creator Miranda himself in the title role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, wowed audiences in its first performance with a spectacular opening night. Hamilton went on over the next 10 years to take home eleven Tony Awards from 16 nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Since it began in 2015, Hamilton has also gone on to be performed in lots of locations across the world, where it has been getting continuously positive reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The Musical “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a broad range in audience because of being understandable to both the older audiences who were interested in the history behind Hamilton, and the younger audiences that came for the exciting and innovative approach behind Hamilton. Across in the U.K.'s London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over the Musical being overblown, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. More so, recently the touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes the show as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they expanded.
Magazine critics and viewers alike agree that Hamilton is a must-attend this spring as it continues its performances all over America.
