Then in 1995, Gregory McGuire would write and publish Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The seductive title would inspire Wicked, the Broadway play we’ve come to know and adore.

So much happened before Dorothy dropped in! That’s exactly what you’re going to get to experience at Wicked. This production has become almost as well known as the original, and that’s saying a lot because who’s never heard of The Wizard of Oz? Drama, intrigue, and some of the best musical numbers that Broadway has ever produced are a part of this story. It’s maybe the stage setup, though, that wraps everything together. Wicked makes sure the audience understands that they are not in Kansas anymore, and they are, in fact, in the land of OZ.
How the play showcases the events of the original Wizard of OZ story is a major part of the success.
